The Louisville-based, non-profit FlamencoTalk, once again, collaborates with internationally acclaimed flamenco artist Antonio Granjero, Felix de Lola, and Ricardo Anglada in creating an emotionally charged flamenco production. Poema del Cante Jondo (Poem of Deep Song) will premiere at the Kentucky Center for the Arts’ Bomhard Theater on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Inspired by Federico Garcia Lorca, flamenco poet and tireless champion of the art form, this year’s production is a tribute to Lorca himself as well as people all over the world devoted to keeping this priceless world treasure from being lost to the ages. Drawing on Lorca’s lyrics, passion and complexity of the ancient musical forms, and the mysterious and intuitive power of duende, maestro Granjero leads an impressive international cast of dancers and musicians in making Poema del Cante Jondo a world-class cultural phenomenon not to be missed. Bringing together artists and guests from all corners of the globe, including Russia, Spain, US, and Argentina, FlamencoTalk’s directors Mariya Tarakanova and Brent Del Bianco, dancers Juliana Bravo and Brenna O’Hara, as well as guest artists Granjero, Felix de Lola, and Anglada have created new choreography and music that will light up the Bomhard stage with a brilliance and authenticity rarely seen outside of Spain. To complete this immersive cultural experience, well-known local artist and Uruguay-native, Graciela Perrone, will exhibit her flamenco-themed paintings prior to the show.
