If you love bourbon, it's only natural that you want to visit bourbon country. There's so much to do here you could visit dozens of times and never have the same experience twice. There are tons of resources you can use to help plan your getaway, starting with this weekend bourbon getaway itinerary.
Friday
-Arrive in Louisville.
-Check into your hotel- I recommend The Seelbach, The Galt House, or 21C. You'll be putting yourself right in the middle of downtown and the best that Louisville has to offer.
-Have dinner at Bourbons Bistro. Opened in 1995, Bourbons is the first ever bourbon-themed restaurant and bar. The food is excellent and the bourbon selection is vast. Get an Urban Bourbon Trail passport and get it stamped.
Saturday
-Start your day early by meeting with Mint Julep Tours (more fun with groups) to begin your Kentucky Bourbon Trail adventure. I recommend Mint Julep Tours because there is a lot of driving between distilleries and it's nice to be able to enjoy the scenery. You can definitely drive it yourself with a designated driver, but make sure you follow these guidelines. You'll have to start early, and you shouldn't plan on making it to more than three distilleries in one day. I'd either recommend Buffalo Trace, Four Roses and Wild Turkey, or The Bulleit Experience at Stitzel-Weller, The Heaven Hill Bourbon Heritage Center and Jim Beam. Don't forget to get your Kentucky Bourbon Trail passport stamped (only at participating distilleries)!
-Arrive back in Louisville and have dinner at one of the many great places along the Urban Bourbon Trail. Be sure to get a passport and collect stamps.
-Finish up the day with a nightcap at Haymarket Whiskey Bar. Get your UBT passport stamped.
Sunday
-Start with brunch at The Silver Dollar. Be sure to get your Urban Bourbon Trail passport stamped.
-Take the Historical Tour at The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Get your Kentucky Bourbon Trail passport stamped.
-Take a stroll through Cave Hill Cemetery and see how many bourbon family plots you can find.
-If you didn't already visit it yesterday, head out to the Shively neighborhood of Louisville and visit The Bulleit Experience at Stitzel-Weller.
-Head home and start planning your next visit to bourbon country.
