Get a first look at 20 fantastic original pen and ink drawings by Paul Reynolds, MFA.
We are opening the first public showing of his pointillism series at Revelry.
In the main gallery images are adapted from classical art, such as the faces of Greco-Roman statues. The REV, the secondary gallery, will feature small-format, equine details.
Reynolds' work is rendered in the classical style of pointillism, a collage of thousands of tiny dots done using a pen tip about the size of a single human hair. The pieces feature a meticulous use of color variation, as well as distance between individual dots to create light and shadow. Many are drawn on traditional manuscript vellum-- imported from England and made from the underbelly of a calf, noted for its smooth surface and non-absorbent nature.
Each piece is archival quality and professionally framed.
The creation of a single piece can take between 80-100 hours.
The exhibit will run from March 11 through April 14, 2011.
