A small supply of advance copies of the eagerly awaited book “Behind Closed Doors II” that benefits the Louisville Deaf Oral School has arrived.
Last week Debbie and Don Cook hosted a party at their exquisite home in Anchorage for all of the homeowners and designers whose homes and/or work were featured in the book.
The 16 advance copies of the book were flown in from the printer in China and were avidly perused by the crowd. The book is fascinating and beautiful. Author and editor June Tafel used the same number of houses (75) and pictures (205) as are in the first book. Photographer Stephen Driver again proves his genius at getting the best shot.
Open house
The Cooks graciously opened their doors to friends and strangers alike that evening.
Debbie collects. The house is filled with signed furniture, and it was set off with exquisite flowers by Don Harris that evening. Michael Hoskins is the Cooks’ designer, and antiquarian Steve Tipton advises her on antiques. Debbie’s cute and charming parents, Clyde and Marie Moore, were on hand with the host and hostess to greet guests when they arrived.
Diane and David Kinnard, Linda Masterson, Rebecca and Bill Fischer, Patrick Welsh, Douglas Riddle, Kathy and Randy Bloch, Jonathan Blue, Sondra and Bill Powers, Lee Robinson, Mary and Bill Nash, and Pat Ballard and Roger Michael oohed and ahhed as they slowly turned the book’s pages.
Mark Clements, Steve and Terri Bass, Amy and Dan Cimba, Nancy and Ray Watkins, JoAnn Paradis, Kathy and Kent Oyler, Zenda and Don Stakelbeck, Joan and Paul Raymont, Meg Vogt, and C’Allen and Stan Chauvin expressed generous praise to the book’s photographer and his wife, Stephen Driver and Tanya, who were present and beaming with pride.
Betty and George Gibbs, Margaret Brown, Carol and Bill Butler, Sara Paradis, Kathy Bean, Connie Judge, Nancy and Stanley Fleck, Rosemary and Jimmy Boone, and Rosemary and Talmage Hocker were among those who lined up to see the book.
