Milestone birthday
Helen Cohen celebrated a milestone birthday on March 19 and her family made it a festive occasion. They flew in from Europe, Rhode Island, Los Angeles and New York to give her a party.

And another one
Rev it up a notch or two and dial back the ages and you have Ron Wolz's birthday celebration later the same evening. The younger set gathered at the Glassworks condo of Wayne Jenkins at a party hosted by Wayne, David Beuligmann and Mark Eliason. Ron's twin brother Don was there with his wife because it was his birthday too! Duh!
Kelly Fenley, Lori and Maury Kommor, Martha and Mike Miller, Rosemary and Talmadge Hocker, Ann Gregory and her son Rob Hare, Summer Eliason, Brandon Meyer, Mike Wolfe, Mandy Vine, Mark Clements and Laura Lee Boone were there.
So were Missy and Mike Maloney, Marsha and Mike Doyle, Carin and George Isaacs and Lynn and Walt Kunau.
The Cheddar Box had prepared a divine dinner and desserts to die for.
Big crowd for gala
Organizers of the 2005 Mint Jubilee Derby Eve Gala are expecting more than 1,200 guests at the Galt House. This ninth annual event, a black-tie fund-raiser, will start at 7 p.m.
The celebrity-filled event benefits the University of Louisville's James Graham Brown Cancer Center, and this year it will also support the Louisville chapter of Gilda's Club, a non-profit organization that assists cancer patients and their families.
The jockeys who have a mount for the Kentucky Derby and celebrities from television, film, literature and sports will be attending this year's gala. This is the second year that the jockeys have lent their support to the Mint Jubilee.
Following cocktails and dinner, there will entertainment by the Pink Flamingos and a silent auction featuring horse-racing memorabilia and other unique items.
Tickets, at $300 per person, can be purchased by calling 562-8021.
The Brown Cancer Center is currently seeking designation as a comprehensive center by the National Cancer Institute. There are currently only 39 other center nationally and none in Kentucky.
