Families who are interested in all the fun and pageantry of Halloween in a
natural setting will have four opportunities to enjoy the holiday during the month of
October at Otter Creek Park.
On the weekends of October 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25, the Halloween Family Fest will
transform the campgrounds at Otter Creek with activities for kids of all ages.
Activities such ascampfire bingo, costume parades, corn hole tournaments, pumpkin and
campsite decorating and trick or treating will be offered throughout each weekend
sponsored by Meijer. (Note: Flyers for activities on individual weekends are attached.)
Families will also be able to explore the natural beauty of the scenic park through
guided hikes and “haunted” hay rides.
Those who participate in the events at Otter Creek Park are required to pay a minimal
family camping fee, though the individual events the family participates in will be free
with the exception of the haunted hayride which is $2 per person. Events will be held on
Friday nights and Saturdays.
“In past years, we’ve offered the Halloween Family Fest for three weekends in October.
This year, we expanded it to four,” said Dan Young, Otter Creek Park manager. “This is
one of our busiest times of the year – but also one of our most fun.”
Otter Creek Park is located approximately 25 miles southwest of downtown Louisville
along the Ohio River in Meade County, Kentucky. It is accessible from Dixie Highway,
just 14 miles south of the Gene Snyder Freeway. For more information, visit
