Since 1985, Equus has been Louisville’s iconic destination for refined American cuisine in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Chef/owner Dean Corbett has invited nine of his chef friends to celebrate this special milestone for the community with the Equus 25th Anniversary Barbecue Bash on Sunday, Aug. 15. The buffet-style dining event will begin at 5 p.m. Guests will also be able to enjoy the sounds of Johnny Berry and some bluegrass friends as they dine on the smorgasbord of barbecue and Southern side dishes prepared by chef Corbett and the guest chefs. Beer from Lexington’s Alltech Brewery and wines from Equus are included in the cost of the dinner which is $50 per person, plus tax and 20% gratuity. Space is limited. The Equus 25th Anniversary Barbecue Bash lineup includes five Louisville chefs who have been part of the Equus team, past and present: Finbar Kinsella of Lilly's; Chris Howerton of Corbett's; Dan Thomas of Jefferson County Public Schools; Greg Graft of Grateful Greens; and Dallas McGarity, the culinary future of Equus and Jack’s Lounge. Additional featured chefs include Ellen Gill of Science Hill Inn, Shelbyville, Ky.; Ouita Michel of Holly Hill Inn, Midway, Ky.; and Edward Lee of 610 Magnolia and Anthony Lamas of Seviche, both of Louisville.
There has been much to commemorate this year, including the incorporation of Jack’s Lounge into the Equus dining experience and chef Corbett’s upcoming participation in the World Equestrian Games’ prestigious culinary event this fall.
“It’s hard to believe that Equus has been open for 25 years,” said chef Corbett. “We’ve come a long way and none of this would have been possible without the amazing team members we’ve had over the years. They each have made a positive impact on the restaurant and I am honored to have some of them returning to our kitchen to help celebrate our anniversary.”
