     Leander’s on Oak grand opening
    During the week of Feb. 1-6, Leander’s on Oak — reviewed here two weeks ago — will celebrate its opening with daily specials, bourbon and wine tastings and a Super Bowl party. The wine tasting is Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.; the bourbon tasting is Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Leander’s is located at the corner of First and Oak. Call 569-6981. 

    Safier Mediterranean Deli opening
    Safier Mediterranean Deli opens this week in the spot formerly occupied by Obee’s Subs and Salads downtown. The menu includes hummos, falafel, meat and veggie shishkobobs, soups, salads and baklava. Safier is located at 641 S. Fourth St. For more info, call 585-1125. —Sara Havens

    English Grill celebrates 5th anniversary
    English Grill’s Chef’s Table, which lets patrons dine in the kitchen with Chef Joe Castro and discuss ingredients, cuisine and more, turns 5 this year, and the Brown Hotel’s four-star restaurant is offering a five-course menu for a limited time. For $65 per person you get an appetizer, salad, intermezzo, entree and dessert. For an additional $40, the Grill’s general manager, Tom Schreier, will pair wines with each course.     Bardstown Bound
    The eclectic shops and restaurants of the Highlands are featured in the first ever “Bardstown Bound” event next Wednesday (Feb. 2). Coordinated by the “Gals in Biz on Bardstown,” the night will be an open-house of sorts, with discounts, specials and showcases from the likes of De La Torre’s, Sweet Surrender, Alameda Bar & Grill, Clodhoppers, Irene’s Salon, Fung Shway and more.
