If you're new to Louisville and you haven't heard of New2Lou, you're missing out. New2Lou is an organization designed to help the newest Louisvillians get settled in, make friends, and find the coolest places to go in town. They host a social the second Wednesday of every month somewhere new and exciting in the city. This month it will be held this Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Derby City Espresso at 331 East Market St from 5:30pm to 9pm.
Derby City Espresso (DCE) is Louisville's first espresso, beer, and tea bar. DCE has no employees and is operated completely by it's owner who lives in the large storefront. It also happens to be the only coffee shop in Louisville that doesn't open in the morning or serve decaf coffee. However, the menu does include approximately two dozen classic Italian style espresso drinks, more than 50 craft beers and over 50 varieties of loose leaf tea. They will have drink specials and live music for the New2Lou event.
Don't worry about how "new" you are. The last social I went to there were people who had only lived in Louisville for 4 months and then people who had lived here for 5 years. It's a great way to meet people and talk about the great city of Louisville. If you can't make this social there is one every month. You can find New2Lou on Facebook and Twitter to find out about the upcoming events. New2Lou; another great thing about being a Newbie in Louisville!
