It seems the rumor mill, news outlets and store front signs
are all sharing word of new restaurants all about town. I’d be remiss not to
compile a few of them in one spot for you.

Downtown caffeine addicts can rejoice that a new coffee shop
is replacing the recently demised Buzz Works. A sign in the window indicates
that “Mrs. Potter’s Coffee Shop” will be opening soon. While this is certainly
good news I’m still wishing and hoping for a Heine Brothers downtown. I saw a
couple people downtown with Heine Brothers cups yesterday and was briefly
excited at the possibility I’d somehow been in a cave and missed noticed of a
Heine Brothers downtown. Alas, that was not the case.

A storefront on East Market has a sign that proclaims
something called Cake Flour is opening in July. With a name like that I can
only hope it’s an outstanding new bakery. While we have some amazing bakers and
dessert makers in this town we can always use another one.

The long wait is almost over for fans of Anoosh Shariat
who’ve been waiting for his new venture since he left the chef’s post at Park Place quite a
while ago. It’s been reported that his new restaurant will be located in the
Holiday Manor shopping center. Details are fuzzy so far but it looks like the
restaurant will be open by November. The rumor I heard many months ago and that
sprang up again recently is that it will almost be two restaurants in one. One
side will focus on casual breakfast and lunch while the other side will be more
    formal for dinner.

Toast on Market is venturing across the river. The very
popular East Market breakfast and lunch spot will be opening a second location
    in New Albany.
It’s estimated that the new location, tidily enough located on New Albany’s Market Street, will be open within three
    months.

While Jimmy John’s isn’t quite my idea of fine dining
occasionally you just need a quick sandwich for lunch. Folks in the Highlands will be able to do just that when Jimmy John’s
opens in the shopping center at the corner of Baxter and Highland Avenues later
this summer. I’m glad to see something, anything, coming into that spot.
Starbucks and Walgreens are the only businesses that have thus far really
seemed to succeed in that location but I think Jimmy John’s will do quite well.
