My Racing Heart, (MRH) a recently formed, non-profit equine charity, has a unique fundraiser for August; it will be selling it’s own signature par fume scent named, appropriately enough, “My Racing Heart.”

Beginning Saturday, August 9th, the My Racing Heart eau de parfum, will be sold at the location of the manufacturer, The Parfumerie of Chenoweth Square. Sales times will be 12 to 5pm each Saturday throughout the month.

“We are pleased to be associated with such a topical and important charity like, My Racing Heart,” says Ruth Wuerth, owner of the Parfumerie, “and we’re proud to be part of this summer fundraiser.” Ruth Wuerth went on to state that she encourages not just her regular customers but “all animal lovers to come by and purchase a bottle of the My Racing Heart signature scent” to support the non-profit’s efforts.

As a non-profit charity, My Racing Heart’s primary goal is to provide funding for non-profit equine retirement and welfare groups. Says Kate Richards Wilt, the Executive Director of MRH, “we want to have a good time while raising the money.” And though MRH is happy to promote the glamour and excitement of the horseracing industry, Richards Wilt is quick to point out, “we’re a community of racing fans who support the industry… but recognize its needs.”

Recent grants from MRH have provided funds for paint and supplies to assist refurbishing Our Mims, a Lexington based broodmare haven, and audiovisual equipment for the Speak Up for Horses seminars that educate the public about equine abuse.

Says Richards Wilt; “the money provided by the parfume will allow us to raise awareness for the racehorses after they cross the finish line. Retirement, rescue funding, race industry work, education, therapy…this is a purpose driven activity. Supporting Kentucky equine charities is day-to-day, labor-intensive activity. Horses take work.”

Horseracing is a glamorous industry, though, with an emphasis on fun and excitement.

“And since we are primarily on organization of women,” says Richards Wilt, “fashion and a beautiful scent will be a part of our funding campaigns.”
