Do no evil nor mischief on the Earth. (Qur’an 2:60)
The Earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it. (Psalms 24:1)
In May of 2005, Muslim and Christian scholars and leaders gathered to discuss what their religious traditions could offer to address the issue of nuclear arms danger. The meeting was convened through the combined efforts of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), The Managing the Atom Project of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the Churches’ Center for Theology and Public Policy (CCTPP). This historic meeting led ISNA and CCTPP to create the Muslim-Christian Initiative as an ongoing advocacy program. We are honored to have been chosen as a community in which the Muslim-Christian Initiative will be conducting their facilitator training. We offer Muslims and Christians in Louisville the opportunity to get involved in this exciting initiative. Learn how to raise awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons by conducting sessions in your house of worship using the Initiative’s comprehensive study guide.
This full day training will cover: introduction to nuclear weapons danger; Muslim, Catholic and Protestant perspectives on nuclear weapons danger; best practices for facilitation; and how to start a Muslim-Christian dialogue and implement the study guide in your community. Participation is free, though space is strictly limited. Lunch will be provided.
