Meet Bernie Lubbers At Match Cigar Bar
    Print this page

Bernie Lubbers doesn’t get near enough credit for his contributions to bourbonism.  He’s an author, a brand ambassador, and a bluegrass musician who teaches the history of bourbon through his music.  He’s always a fun guy to be around, and any chance you have to grab a drink and sit with him, you should always take it.

Thursday night at Match Cigar Bar in Jeffersonville, Lubbers will be hanging out and answering your questions about bourbon.  If you have a copy of his book, you can get it signed.  If you don’t have a copy of his book yet, you can buy one here.

Currently, Lubbers is a brand ambassador for Heaven Hill Brands, and he strongly advocates Bottled in Bond whiskeys.  The bourbon I’ve heard him recommend most often as one of his favorites is Henry McKenna Bottled in Bond.  It is an unusual BIB offering in that it is 10 years old, whereas most BIBs are only 4.  Heaven Hill is noteworthy for having a huge BIB portfolio, including one of my personal favorites- JTS Brown BIB.

Match Cigar Bar is a great place to relax and grab a bourbon and a stogie after a long day at the office.  My bourbon and cigar pairing recommendation for this event is a Henry McKenna BIB neat with a Kentucky Fire Cured MUWAT.

Thursday night is the new Friday night in Bourbon Country.  There’s just so much fun stuff to do we can’t contain it all in the weekends.  For more information about this event, click here.
