It takes a staggering amount of volunteer effort, communication, and generosity to make “March Magic” happen. Every person involved with Kentucky Harvest has, at one point or another, simply called 502-894-9999 or 1-800-USA 4FOOD and asked how to help. This is a simple action with extraordinary results. Time or talent, the dedication of individuals together has powerful results.

    Goals of Kentucky Harvest’s
    “Millions in a Month” campaign:

    • Raise 11,000,000 pounds of nonperishable food from March 1 - 31, 2006
    • Solicit businesses, clubs, and organizations to participate in “FOODRaisers” the month of March
    • Seek participation throughout Kentucky and in Southern Indiana
    • Deliver food donations to approved shelters and community centers

    How Can You Help?

You can help by organizing a food drive at your workplace, school, and place of worship; in your neighborhood; through your social groups; and just by asking those you know to get involved.

Ideas to help get people involved:

    • Bring food to earn “dress down” days at the office
    • Have groups or departments compete to collect the most cans
    • Build a structure from the cans collected in a “canstruction” event

    About Kentucky Harvest

Kentucky Harvest was founded in 1987 out of utter logic. Hunger doesn’t make sense. Get the food from where it is to where it is needed. This “Millions in a Month” campaign is Kentucky Harvest’s second major nonperishable food drive. The first, in 2001, raised over 3.2 million pounds of food in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Kentucky Harvest is a 501(c)(3) agency and all donations are tax deductible for Federal Tax purposes.
