Hey there out of towners - if your flight isn't leaving until Monday and you want to show off what you did in Louisville other than Derby, stop by Lynn's Paradise Cafe.
Okay, it's still a little relevant. After all, you can have your photo taken with Super Saver, the Derby winning horse.
While you're at it, you can have your photo taken at Lynn's itself. Just off the popular Bardstown Road strip, Lynn's Paradise Cafe has been featured on multiple Food Network shows. Where else can you get latkes with herbed goat cheese and homemade banana pudding as side orders with your hot brown? Not to mention the World of Swirl, home of WWBD (What would Bacon Do?) spinners, purses made from license plates, and Nihilist Mints. You're bringing a camera for a picture with Super Saver anyway. Pose on the parking lot statues or drape yourself in the giant hand chairs under the veranda while you wait for your table.
Lynn's Paradise Cafe, Ramsi's Cafe on the World, and a random favorite hole in the wall are always the winning trifecta of restaurants when Louisvillians have out of town guests.
Today, in addition to the Bourbon Ball French Toast (yes, breakfast is served all day), they're offering bourbon tastings, River Bend Winery tastings, caricatures, book signings with the author of "The Explorer's Guide to Kentucky," and, because Louisville believes in Keeping it Weird, underwater basket weaving demonstrations. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I learned Cherokee double wall basket weaving from my family, which is in fact, done under water. I've never met another underwater basket weaver who wasn't related by blood. I may have to investigate.
