
While the Run for the Roses goes on inside Churchill Downs, the run to escape city traffic and no parking areas goes on outside. As thousands of tourists descend on Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, it is important to plan ahead to avoid the traffic.
Road closures and no parking areas will begin the afternoon of Friday, May 2nd. On the days of Oaks and Derby from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fourth Street from Heywood Avenue to Oakdale Avenue will be closed.
The I-264 Watterson Expressway interstate ramp will be closed on both days, as well, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. east and westbound, to Taylor Boulevard, Southern Parkway and Third Street.

If you happen to unlucky enough to have your car towed by metro Louisville, call the vehicle impoundment lot at 502-574-7078. The main vehicle impoundment lot is located at 1487 Frankfurt Avenue.
