On Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00am, Farmington Historic Plantation will host a lecture, given by local architect and historian Steve Wiser, entitled Louisville's Lincoln: How Local Influences Altered Lincoln’s Presidency and American History.
The program, which will take place at the Farmington Visitor Center, is $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 452-9920, or at the door. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Louisville's Lincoln is a part of Farmington Historic Plantation’s Saturday morning series. More information about the series will be available on our website (www.historichomes.org) in the coming months.
Steve will give a talk that encompasses all of the fascinating associations that our city has with Abraham Lincoln, and, how these connections shaped his presidency and changed America’s destiny. While most are familiar with some of these relationships, few are aware of the overall composite story of Louisville and Lincoln. Steve will present a fascinating power-point illustrated talk sure to generate much interest and discussion.
Steve Wiser has written numerous local history and architecture books. His most recent is “Louisville Tapestry: People and Places that helped create America’s Most Livable City”. Steve is three-time president of the Louisville Historical League and is also the tour guide at Cave Hill Cemetery.
