Louisville.com—hey, that's this website!—won the 2011 Louisville Magazine's readers' choice award for best local website in the publication's annual Best of Louisville balloting. Don't believe me? See for yourself on p. 54 of the July 2011 issue.
The awards will be presented tonight at the Best of Louisville Bash, 6–10 p.m. at Churchill Downs Millionaires Row (tickets are $50 and available at the door).
Thanks to everyone who voted for us as well as all of our readers. Also, a special thanks to the several dozen or so writers who've contributed to the site since we relaunched in January 2010 (follow this link for the current lineup), our owners, sales team and interns. Monthly visits have more than doubled since then and it's great to see the writers' hard work acknowledged by our readers with this Best of Louisville award.
And while we're acknowledging, let's address that pink elephant: Louisville Magazine's publisher is a dapper fella named Dan Crutcher who shares a birth date, DNA structure and shoe size with Louisville.com's dapper co-owner, a man also named Dan Crutcher.
That being said, according to Wikipedia, Mr. Crutcher, Sir, has been the publisher of Louisville Magazine since 1993 (his office is 20 feet from my desk but Wikipedia seems like a more trustworthy, never mind convenient, source) and a co-owner of this site since the late 1990s or something (Wikipedia is silent on the issue). Yet 2011 marks the first time this website's garnered even a mention in the Best of Louisville awards since 1999. So pfffft.
Also, there was no ballot-stuffing initiative on our part. In fact, I didn't even vote for this site.
