When Vanity Fair showcased Caitlyn Jenner on the cover of its July 2015 edition, it was clear that the world had officially progressed into a new era, an era in which the transgendered have more possibilities than ever before. When American father, Olympic athlete and successful reality television star Bruce Jenner made the difficult decision to completely transform into a woman, a new door of hope was opened for those struggling in the same situation.

“The uncomfortableness of being me never leaves all day long,” Jenner told Vanity Fair in his historic interview. “I’m not doing this to be interesting. I’m doing this to live.” (Read the full interview here!)

And in a classic celebration of life, half of the country welcomed Caitlyn Jenner into the world, while the other half, for whichever number of reasons, disagreed with the transformation.

And while America is a country built on the concept of free beliefs and opinions, the Derby City Sisters are striving to bring the community of Louisville together in support of this topic with their event, Trans Awareness United as One at Mercury Ballroom.

The Trans Awareness United as One event will feature over 20 entertainers and speakers from all over the region, including Louisville’s own DJ S.Y.I.M.O.N.E. and RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Phoenix! Each performer and speaker will focus on the topic of the transgendered community and the ways in which Louisville can support these valuable members of our society.

In addition to the impressive roster of speakers and performers, local businesses which support the transgender community will have interactive booths displayed throughout the venue to ensure that this event will not only be entertaining but also informative.

Each guest in attendance will be greeted at the door with a hug and a pink and blue striped trans awareness ribbon to wear as a public display of support and to raise awareness.

Trans Awareness United as One is scheduled to begin at 8pm on Friday, July 31st. Everyone is invited to this all-ages event. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit Mercury Ballroom’s website
