“Louisville SWIG was AWESOME. Thank you – repeatedly - to all the vendors, and entertainment personnel who made this a truly outstanding event.  We could not have done this without your presence. You made Louisville SWIG one of the top tasting events in Louisville of 2014. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.”

    - Lynn Hafele & Ina Miller, Swig event organizers

The first annual Louisville SWIG Tasting Affair, hosted by Louisville Magazine, was a smashing success!

The event attracted over 400 people dressed to the nine’s - feathered headbands, red lipstick and fedoras floating around the Brown Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom all evening long, creating a Prohibition-themed event that would have left even Jay Gatsby stunned.

The entertainment, Billy Goat Strut, was the perfect band, setting the tone not only for guests, but also for the wonderful New Lou Swing Dancers. Along with the phenomenal music, over 50 liquor and food vendors were present, filling guests with delicious cocktails, cold beers and phenomenal food. Gentleman Jack’s speakeasy put an old-timey twist on the tasting event, providing not only booze, but also shoe shines, bow-tie-tying lessons and haircuts -- just like they did in the good old days.

“There’s a whole room dedicated to bourbon, whiskey, brandy and gin. This is better than Christmas!” said one guest.

The crowd was diverse – from those freshly of drinking age to those well past retirement age. Many purchased their tickets ahead of time, but some were lucky enough to stumble upon the party:

“We’re staying at the Brown hotel this weekend. We heard music, and decided to come down to see what was going on. Thankfully, we did. And this is by far the best event I’ve ever been to,” said another guest.

Thank you so much to all of the vendors and guests who made this event so successful for Louisville Magazine, for APRON and for all of the businesses present.
