It will be a lovely night in October when the Louisville Orchestra presents Claude Debussy's Nocturnes and Gustav Holst's The Planets at Whitney Hall on Thursday, October 2, 2008 10:30am for the Hardscuffle Coffee Classics and Friday, October 3, 2008 8pm for the Hilliard Lyons Classics. The Ladies of the University of Louisville's Collegiate Chorale will be led by chorus master Kent Hatteberg for the third movement ("Sirènes") in Nocturnes and the "Neptune" movement in The Planets while Jorge Mester conducts the Louisville Orchestra for the entire concert.
For the Friday evening performance the celestial bodies will be brought to earth by the Louisville Astronomical Society who, for the evening performance, will have several telescopes pointed at various planets and will have an assortment of digital media available to see planets as well as a virtual trip through space star gazers to enjoy..
