The results of our “Top Surgeons” and “Top Dentists” surveys come right from the most knowledgeable source of all — the doctors themselves.
To rate the surgeons, we mailed questionnaires to the 2,000-plus members of the Greater Louisville Medical Society. The survey asked: “If you or a member of your family were in need of surgery, who among Louisville-area physicians would you choose or recommend most highly to perform the following procedures?”
We asked the doctors to name up to three surgeons, in order of preference, for each type of surgery listed. The results were then tallied to compile this list of Top Surgeons.
We used the same process for the dentists, mailing those surveys to the 300-plus members of the Louisville Dental Society. (See page 92 for the Top Dentists list.)
All doctors listed on these pages received multiple mentions from their peers. We make no claims that this is a statistically valid survey, and that’s a major reason we have not attached numbers to indicate how many times each Top Surgeon or Top Dentist was mentioned. There are numerous other skilled and successful physicians and dentists in the community. In the end, it’s the patient’s choice as to which doctor — whether identified here or not — will provide the best care and be the best fit for an individual’s needs.
