The 2012 West Region Champion Louisville Cardinals will host a "Final Four" community celebration on Tuesday. The celebration will be held at 5:30 pm on Fourth Street Live!, this is a free event and open to the public.
Join Head Coach Rick Pitino and the players, as we celebrate their Big East Championship (seen below) and Final Four appearance. Fans are encouraged to wear red and black, to show their support for the team.
Fourth Street Live! is located in Downtown Louisville between Liberty and Muhammad Ali Blvd. Free parking will be available at Fourth Street Live!/PARC garage after 6pm. Additional parking is offered at the Seelbach Garage, Hyatt Garage, and Starks Garage.
Fans will be able to receive free posters (seen below) commemorating their run in the tournament.
It will be your final chance to say goodbye to Seniors Kyle Kuric and Chris Smith, who leave Louisville with two illustrious careers. It will also be your final chance to say goodbye to Juniors Jared Swopshire and Elijah Justice. Jared Swopshire is transferring to Northwestern, after being denied a scholarship at Louisville for his Senior season. Elijah Justice is transferring to Pikeville College, to receive more playing time and be closer to his ill grandmother.
Louisville won eight post-season games in a row, en route to a Big East Championship and Final Four appearance, before falling to eventual National Champion, Kentucky.
“I think it’s awesome to have two teams from a small state in the Final Four playing each other. It’s history, we’re part of history now. I’d like it to happen again. I just want the score to be reversed next time around,” Pitino said at a Monday press conference
