Founded in 1995, the Louisville Area Fiber and Textile Artists (LAFTA) is an organization of local visual artists whose work encompasses an array of surface design and construction techniques. The two-fold mission is to provide on-going support and information to its members and to increase community awareness and understanding of fiber and textile arts. LAFTA hosts juried shows about once a year in the community.

Members’ work includes: art quilting; assemblage and collage; basketry; beading; doll-making; fabric painting, stenciling, screening and stamping; felt-making; hand or machine embroidery; knitting and crocheting; papermaking and printing; punch needle and rug hooking; wearable art; and weaving and tapestry.
