On March 1, 2011, the Peace Corps commemorated 50 years of promoting peace and friendship around the world.
A new exhibit at the Louisville Free Public Library explores the rich history of the Peace Corps through the stories, photos, and memorabilia of Louisvillians who have served. Louisville and the Peace Corps celebrates these local volunteers, whose service spans five decades in countries all around the globe.
Louisville and the Peace Corps is on display now through April 2 at the Main Library, 301 York Street. A gallery reception will be held Thursday, March 10, 5:30-7 p.m. for people to meet and talk with returned Peace Corps volunteers. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
