Every year, the WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® concert series is a great success, with enthusiastic crowds mingling, dancing and enjoying the river. The Waterfront Development Corporation and Louisville Public Media are continuing the success with national recording artists and local talent entertaining at the after-work gathering on the last Wednesday of each month through September. This summertime tradition features a family-friendly atmosphere, free admission, a cash bar and upscale festival fare.
The August 26th WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® concert is sponsored by Commonwealth Bank and Trust Company, Goose Island Brewing Company, Hornitos Tequila, Spalding University and Friends of the Waterfront, and will feature Cracker, Will Hoge and Great Lake Swimmers.
“Cracker are as slyly weird as ever. [They] are better than they've ever been at honoring both the straight and the twisted sides of their musical personality …” – Mark Deming, All Music Guide
Explosive live performances, non-stop touring and a commitment to songwriting have earned Will Hoge a fanatical following as well as critical acclaim. Through sharp lyricisms and strong melodies, his songs tell stories that are delivered with a passion and desperation that demand attention. "Rock n roll baptism – that's what it feels like every time Will Hoge and his band take the stage … " – The Philadelphia Intelligencer
“Not relying on hype or shtick, Great Lake Swimmers deserve to be acknowledged for quality songwriting and their plaintive, haunting melodies. They're one of the only bands I know of that can bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.” – Kevin Alfoldy, LAS Magazine
WDC and LPM produce the WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® concert series, which has grown to be a favorite of downtown professionals and families alike. The remaining concert date for the 2009 season is September 30.
