    Happy Hour. Sept. 12 and 26 features Happy Hour from 4-7 p.m. and includes special food prices at the Plaza grill, $2 draft beers, $3 Stella Artois and live country music in the Paddock Plaza. Pamela K. Ward entertains Sept. 12 and Minnie Murphy takes the stage Sept. 26.

    Football Watch Party. Last year, fans took in the UofL-UK football game in the Paddock Plaza while playing the ponies. This year, with the red and blue not meeting until the end of November, Churchill Downs will air the University of Louisville and Virginia Cavaliers game Sept. 13. Fans can enjoy $2 Bud and Bud Light products and $3 Stella Artois in the Paddock Plaza during the game. Fans with college ID enjoy free admission.

    Family Adventure Day. Kroger presents Family Adventure Day on Sunday, Sept. 14. A slew of fun activities is on tap for the kids, including a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, face painting, corn hole, stick horse races, magic tricks, Kona ice truck and special appearances by Churchill Charlie and the Captain of the Belle of Louisville, who will be on-hand to celebrate the Belle of Louisville’s 100th birthday. Participation in Family Adventure Day activities requires the purchase of a Family Pavilion Ticket ($10 for adults and $5 for kids) which includes gate admission and seating in the Grandstand Terrace. Save $5 by purchasing tickets in advance at www.ChurchillDowns.com.

    Ladies Day at the Races. The eighth-annual Ladies Day at the Races returns Friday, Sept. 26. A fundraiser to support the Backside Learning Center at Churchill Downs, the event includes a buffet, fashion show and silent and live auctions amid a view of the races from Millionaires Row on the sixth floor. Tickets are $75 per person or $500 for a table of eight.

    Autumn N’Spires Festival. The September meet closes out with a bang when Churchill Downs hosts its Autumn N’Spires Festival closing day, Sept. 28. Music and mobile food trucks fill the Paddock Plaza. Enjoy live music from Southern Sirens and A Lion Named Roar and taste the flavors of local food trucks, including Grind, Holy Mole’, Lil’ Cheezers, Longshot Lobsta and Jam Pan.

    Racing runs Friday, Sept. 5 through Sunday, Sept. 28. No racing Mondays through Thursdays. Gates open Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m., with the first post at 12:45 p.m. Friday Downs After Dark events gates open at 4 p.m., with first post at 6 p.m. Happy Hour Fridays gates open at 1:30 p.m., with first post at 2:45 p.m. Admission is $3 ($10 on Downs After Dark) and children 12 and under are free.
