Louisville, Kentucky - Waterfront Development Corporation and Public Radio Partnership Announce The May 25th, 2005 91.9 WFPK Waterfront Wednesday Line-up After Work on the Last Wednesday of the Month From April - September On the Harbor Lawn at Waterfront Park

Last year's WFPK Waterfront Wednesday concerts were a great success, with enthusiastic crowds mingling, dancing and enjoying the river. Louisville Waterfront Development Corporation and Public Radio Partnership will repeat the success this year when national recording artists and local talent will entertain at the after-work gathering on the last Wednesday of each month from April through September. This summertime tradition features great live music, free admission, a cash bar and upscale festival fare.

The May 25th 91.9 WFPK Waterfront Wednesday concert is sponsored by Michelob Ultra and Friends of the Waterfront, and will feature The Silos, Carbon Leaf and Danielia Cotton.

The Silos create a sound that's hard to pin down. According to Buzz McClain in The Washington Post, the band creates "powerful earthy pop that sounds like the result of Nirvana riding on R.E.M.'s tour bus." The Silos'
vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Walter Salas-Humara says, "To some people, we're a country band. To other people, we're a rock band. To other people, we're an acoustic band. Some people think we're rootsy, and others think we're arty." He pauses to take a breath and to chuckle at the breadth of it all. "We're all of those things."

Carbon Leaf started in the Virginia college circuit, then won the first Coca-Cola New Music Award and in 2002 were the first unsigned act ever to perform at the American Music Awards. "Carbon Leaf's style is based in Celtic Rock but moves into heavier rock sounds, folk and even some jazz on various tracks throughout [their latest] album." -Jeff McCann, Hitcooper

Danielia Cotton has built a powerhouse alt/rock-blues sound that draws from influences like The Rolling Stones, PJ Harvey and Led Zeppelin. As 2 Walls Webzine has raved of her live New York sets: "That bluesy voice, her soulful guitar work and her cover girl face make her a triple threat."

WDC and PRP produce the "WFPK Waterfront Wednesdays" series, which has grown to be a favorite of downtown professionals and families alike. The WFPK Waterfront Wednesdays began in April this year and go through September, bringing the total number of concerts to 6. The remaining dates for 2005 are May 25, June 29, July 27, August 31 and September 28 from 5pm - ?.

The Harbor Lawn is located between the boat docks at the Great Lawn and the Children's Play Area. Parking is available along River Road, in the Green Lot, the Orange Lot, and surrounding pay lots.

Please, no coolers, cans or bottles on the Harbor Lawn.
