Louisville sculptor Ed Hamilton has been plugging away at creating the new Lincoln Memorial statue to be located at Waterfront Park between the Big Four bridge and the Kennedy Bridge. June 4th is the day that everybody is invited to see the work.
The Waterfront Development Corporation has been overseeing the project and is making the plans for the dedication. The project was funded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the family of Harry S. Frazier, Jr. and the Kentucky Historical Society/Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial committee. It's all part of a two-year celebration of Lincoln's 200th birthday.
The night features a performance of Aaron Coplands "Lincoln Portrait" read by Louisville native (and regualar on the television show "LOST") William Mapother.
The gates open up at 8pm with the ceremony getting under way at 8:45pm.
