With unemployment hovering at 9%, corporate layoffs and downsizing still occurring at a fairly good clip, and employees' overall dissatisfaction with their current job, a trend has begun: more and more people are busting the shackles of the cubicle and starting their own business.

Thom Crimans wants you to know that a great way to do that is to buy a franchise.

Thom is a franchise consultant with FranNet, a company that connects people with the franchise they want to own. He is also the host of Louisville's newest business talk show, Let's Talk Franchising, on WGTK 970.

Where did the idea for the show come from?

"I just know so many people with a great story tell about how they followed their dream and started a business," he said. "I think a franchise is a great way to do that because it's a proven system, and gives a person all the guidance they need to be successful."

According to Thom, the show, which will air Saturdays at 2pm, will have several segments, including a Q&A session with franchise experts in different fields, some funny and serious stories from the business world, and general advice for all business owners.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must tell you that the co-host of the show is none other than Yours Truly. I will be giving advice from the world of social media, as well as general support duties for Thom.

Check out WGTK's Website for more programming details.
