Artist’s Potluck for information on the SIDE by SIDE Program. VSA Arts program is offered to area children with various disabilities. The SIDE BY SIDE program is designed to make available creative opportunities to students, reinforce inclusiveness and positive self-image, and highlight the importance of visual arts education to the development of our youth.
The VSA Arts program is currently seeking artists to work SIDE BY SIDE (one on one) with these young people to create a collaborative work of art that will later be exhibited along with one of your original art works and a piece of work from your student partner. You will receive a $50 stipend for your time. The exhibition this year will be held at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft in the spring.

Louisville Artists Syndicate/Third Thursdays for Artists
The theme for February’s Third Thursday is “Fire & Ice” and will feature works by local artists reflecting one or both concepts. This event will take place on Feb. 16th from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Water Tower. Local ice sculptors will be giving carving demonstrations. Delivery date for all work is Feb. 14-15th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. All work should be removed after 10 p.m. on the 16th or on Friday, Feb. 17th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Contact Louisvilleartistssyndicate@gmail.com for submission guidelines.

Artist in Residence Program at Bernheim Forest
The Artist in Residence Program is available to all visual artists in any medium. Applicants may be emerging or established artists on a regional, national or international level. Bernheim will provide living quarters and studio space for the recipient in exchange for an exhibition, site-specific sculpture or project and the donation of at least one work of art to the Bernheim Art Collection. The residency must include some form of public engagement.
Artists are encouraged to use this residency to further investigate, experiment, and explore avenues in their work. Bernheim is most interested in work that furthers our understanding of the relationship between contemporary art and the natural world. Find info here or contact Martha Winans Slaughter at:

Right Here Over There by the Lexington Art League
Right Here Over There is an exhibition exploring the physical, mental, and metaphoric landscapes of place and their indelible link to memory. Throughout our lives we are surrounded by a world punctuated by varying spaces, climates, geographies, buildings, and cultures. Accumulating in layers over time, pieces of our physical world provide visual reference points for how we understand one another and ourselves. Themes including (but not limited to) the following may be integrated into the final exhibition: mapping, topography, architecture, nature, distance, home, exile, travel, and personal/social/political geographies.
Artists interested in submitting work for consideration are encouraged to creatively interpret the theme. Works in all media are eligible. Find info here or contact Becky Alley at balley@lexingtonartleague.org.

Jefferson County Master Gardener Association, Inc.
The Jefferson County Master Gardener Association, Inc. announces a contest to produce its first official Association logo. The competition is open to the general public and encourages amateurs, artists, graphic designers and students to draw on the information on our website about the Association to create an attractive and unique logo that captures and communicates our spirit and mission.
A cash prize of $200 will be awarded to the Contest winner, with prizes of $50 and $25 going to the second and third place finishers respectively. All prizes will be awarded at the Association’s spring gardening festival, Gardenaganza, to be held on April 21, 2012 at Farmington Historic Plantation in Louisville, Kentucky. The top ten entries will be exhibited at the festival.
The winning logo will be used on the Association’s website, Facebook page, newsletter, stationery, event and program advertisements, and on member clothing such as t-shirts, hats, aprons, etc. Logo submissions must contain the words “Jefferson County Master Gardener Association” and may include other graphics and gardening-related art. Highland Cleaners and local publication pure/uncut/candy are sponsoring a call for artists to create unique and one-of-a-kind clothes valets (a clothes valet is an item of furniture, born as useful accessory of Victorian age fashion practices, on which clothes may be hung.)
