Today commences the opening of events at the Kentucky Speedway, as NASCAR fans turn their collective attention to the Sprint Series, a series which has proved its legacy through the years. Marking the opening of festivities which are sure to be raucous if, for no other reason, this is the inaugural year that that the speedway in the bluegrass state has this opportunity, the event kicks off with Quaker State’s “400” event.
A weekend long extravaganza which is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. this morning with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Final Practice, through the remainder of the day race fans will get the chance to see race practice, testing, and qualifying all leading up to race day on Saturday when engines are revved for the first leg of the Sprint Cup Series at 8 p.m.
Other notable events throughout the weekend include Thursday’s “UNOH 225” race at eight as well as Friday’s Sprint Cup Series final practice at 1:30 and NASCAR’s charity race dubbed as the “Feed the Children 300” at eight.
Media outlets include steady coverage from Sirius XM satellite radio; channel 90, and on TV coverage will come nationally from the Speed Channel on Thursday night, ESPN on Friday, and TNT on Saturday.
Also for any attendees to the event be aware that there are special “club” tickets that can be purchased from the Kentucky Speedway’s website which offer privileges and perks, also make sure to look out for race stars like Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Tony Stewart all of whom will be in attendance in one way or another.
The Speedway advises those who will be in attendance to arrive as early as possible for parking, explaining that in the 30,000 car parking lot spots can fill up and do quickly within four hours of the race.
