Pros: Done Talking won the Illinois Derby ¾ of a length in front of Morgan’s Guerrilla who went on to finish last of 11 in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes in his next start. Done Talking closed from nearly last to split the two leaders deep into the stretch. It was a gutsy move for a young horse. The early speed we should see in the Kentucky Derby and Done Talking’s ability to maneuver through traffic may give this colt an advantage.

Cons: Done Talking really hasn’t taken on the top horses in this crop of three-year-olds. He did meet Hansen in the Goltham, but finished tenth and was beaten nearly 21 lengths. His Illinois Derby win was very slow, almost six seconds slower than the Blue Grass Stakes and Santa Anita Derby.

Fun Fact: Owner Skeedattle Stables is a partnership between Robert "Willie" White, Lou Rehak and Robert Orndorff. White and Rehak are best friends and business partners who own an overhead door company in Maryland.

Analysis: I just don’t think Done Talking has done enough, beaten enough of the most competitive horses in this field to warrant betting. His late closing running style will help, but in a field of 20 horses with other deep closers, I don’t think he’s going to be the one that gets out and gets to the finish first.
