Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) now accepting applications for free summer residential program.
The Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is now accepting applications for their free summer residential program being held at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. This unique program will begin on June 18, 2006 and /files/storyimages/on July 8, 2006 and is for Kentucky high school rising juniors and seniors only. Students may pick up an application at their high school counselor's office and s/files/storyimages/it in with a postmark on or before December 29, 2005 or fill one out on-line at www.kentuckygsa.org.
GSA currently has 226 spots for students in Architecture, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Music Theatre, Visual Art and Vocal Music. It is strongly recommended that applicants apply in one art form only, but students may apply in up to two art forms if they feel they are equally proficient in both. The benefits of GSA ext/files/storyimages/far beyond the summer program with graduates being invited to att/files/storyimages/college and career day and receive the opportunity to audition and have their portfolios reviewed by some of the top college representatives. Additionally, 18 colleges and universities offer scholarships to alumni of GSA.
GSA accepts applications from all students who wish to apply, regardless of prior recommendation by high school faculty, staff or administrations. A student's grade point average/or other academic measures are not considered in the review process but rather their creativity, talent, and potential.
