Is there anything cuter than a pug? Well, how about a couple of pugs dressed up as a football player and a cheerleader? Just when you think you have seen and heard it all…Pugtoberfest comes to town! This annual event used to be held across the bridge in Indiana, but Kentuckiana Pug Rescue discovered a beautiful venue in the Louisville area and moved this event! Paroquet Springs Conference Center in Shepherdsville, KY is now the home for this annual event. “Pugs are indoor dogs and having a modern, air conditioned facility made this an easy choice,” stated Kentuckiana Pug Rescue President, Amy Carpenter. Pug lovers from all over will be descending upon Shepherdsville with their pug children in tow. The goal of this event is to spread the word about this wonderful breed of dogs and inspire the public to rescue a dog instead of buying one. This event will also raise some much needed funds to keep this organization going so that they can continue to rescue pugs in need. Kentuckiana Pug Rescue (KPR) is a non-profit 501C3 organization that relies on donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees to pay for medical expenses to care for unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused pugs, giving them a second chance at life in a loving and caring home. “The purpose of our organization is to find homes that will provide a healthy and happy life for the pugs in our care” stated Amy Carpenter. KPR is staffed by caring volunteers. All funds raised are utilized for the needs of the Pugs. KPR spends in excess of $100,000 a year on Veterinary expenses. All proceeds earned at Pugtoberfest go directly to the Pugs and their needs.Pugtoberfest 2008 is an annual gathering of Pug people and their dogs for fun and a good cause, but this fundraising event isn’t just limited to pugs.
