The Junior League of Louisville is hosting a reception for potential members on November 11, 2009. The Junior League of Louisville (JLL) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, to developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Over 550 members annually donate countless volunteer hours to community projects and serve on more than 260 national, state, and local boards. JLL developed many of Louisville's premier philanthropic endeavors, including KidsZone at the Louisville Science Center, Ronald McDonald House, Race for the Cure, and Playscape at Waterfront Park.
JLL offers a wide range of community projects benefitting women and children in the Louisville area. In 2008-2009, JLL Active & Provisional members contributed over 13,300 hours in community service and impacted over 2,800 lives through hands-on projects. Additionally, JLL members raised over $45,000 in fundraisers, with 100% of those funds returned to the community through community projects and training.
