Louisville fuzz folk rock band, Jack Holiday and the Westerners, is competing for a spot at Waterfront Wednesday in the Louisville Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands. In the first round fans are able to vote for their favorite band by downloading their song in the Hard Rock Rising app for a participating Hard Rock in their area. The top winners from the first round will go on to the second round to compete live in their local Battle of the Bands competition. The band who wins this round wins a spot at Waterfront Wednesday, and Jack Holiday and the Westerners wants more than anything to play a Waterfront Wednesday.
JHW describe themselves as ‘fuzz folk rock’ and rightly so. Just listen to their Hard Rock Rising song entry, S E Lapp, and you will agree. The song starts off with a spacey keyboard motif, and when the rest of the band comes in a listener cannot help but sway to the music. The violin, bass, and trumpet help bring a folk feel to the music with their commanding melodies and tone. Jack Holiday and the Westerners have completed the difficult feat of creating complex music that is also catchy to the listener. To vote for this song before February 6th click here. Sort by downloads and you can find JHW on the first page.
The band members are Zach Groves (guitar), Joseph Hanna (saxophone), Kris Lewis (trumpet, tambourine), Scott Whitehouse (keys, vocals, harmonica, guitar), Rodney "Greatness" Younger (drums), and Gabrielle Boguslaw (violin, vocals).
