The Chic Sheet originally started as a creative outlet for Miranda Rogers McDonald and her love of fashion and writing. After gaining readership she invested more time in it to see where it would take her. In October of last year she posted her first personal style entry, and even though she likes blogging about the latest trends, ready to wear collections and new products, personal style posts get the most response. McDonald said, “It is one thing to talk about fashion, and another to actually show how you incorporate it into your own life.”

McDonald shares her favorite stores in Louisville, thoughts on upcoming events and what fall trends she is looking forward to wearing.

Where is your favorite location to shop in Louisville and why?

I must say that I am obsessed with TJ Maxx. The location close to me has an amazing assortment of designer accessories, shoes, clothing, and some really unique home decor items as well. Oh, and did I mention that they have aisles full of foreign foods, delicious candy, and random gadgets for you to peruse while you are waiting in line to check out? I love the art of shopping, and the idea that you never know what you will find next is something that keeps me coming back to the store.

What are some of your favorite stores local to Louisville?

Dress and Dwell is so amazing because it is a local boutique that incorporates chic home decor with clothing and accessories as well.  I also love what the girls at Blush Boutique are bringing to the Louisville shopping scene, because their merchandise it not only young and fresh, but it also hits a variety of price points.

What are your favorite trends for fall and winter?

When it comes to shoes, I would say pointy toe pumps and ankle straps (combined is even better) is what I will be donning most of the season. I think that shoes should simply accent, not overwhelm our feet this fall. There is such a fun mix of patterns, colors, prints, and textures that designers and style mavens are playing with this season, so one doesn't need a large platformed heel to stand out anymore.

I also love the over-sized, structured silhouettes many of the designers played with this season. Phoebe Philo killed it with her Celine Fall 2012 collection, and Proenza Schouler's drop waist trousers and boxy jackets left me drooling.

Do you have a go-to place to get your hair done, and buy beauty products?

When it comes to beauty products I shop at a variety of places. Whether it is Target or Sephora, I can always find something. However, once I find a product that I really like I stick with it.

You are in the latest issue of InStyle, how did that come about?

Readers are able to send in submissions about how InStyle inspired their personal style in some way. A couple of months ago I sent in a photo and and a brief description, and immediately heard back from their editorial team. After a few days of emailing back and forth (they had a few questions and asked for more photos of my shoes) they decided to publish my look.

Are there any Louisville fashion events you are looking forward to?

I always look forward to The Voice Tribune's Best Dressed event because they always produce a great show. However, I am also excited for Waterfront Fashion Week this month, because it is great to see this city get involved in the global fashion community.

Three words that best describe your style?

Boy Meets Girl... I love the contradiction of mixing feminine and masculine pieces together.
