I’ll Have Another has been sold to Shigeyuki Okada’s Big Red Farm in Japan after his retirement and will begin his stud career in 2013. I'll Have Another thrilled horse racing fans when he won two legs of the Triple Crown, The Kentucky Derby and Preakness, before being retired the day before the Belmont Stakes because of a tendon injury.

The terms of the sale were not disclosed but it has stirred up controversy from many of the horse’s fans who remember the fate of champion Thoroughbred Ferdinand who was sold to Japan for stud duty but later sent to slaughter when his breeding career was over. Connections of I’ll Have Another stated there were other offers in Kentucky for the horse but none that came close to the Japanese offer so they went with that one.

Big Red Farm is located on the Island of Hokkaido and stands 11 other sires, including the Dubai World Cup winner Roses in May, as well as Breeders Cup Turf winner Conduit.

I’ll Have Another is a three old colt by Flower Alley and out of a Arch mare Arch’s Gal Edith.

I’ll Have Another retired with five wins from seven starts with career earnings of $2,693,600. on June 8, the day before the Belmont Stakes.
