Fifth Third Waterfront Independence Festival
Louisville, KY - The annual tradition of gathering for free concerts and fireworks at Waterfront Park on July 4th will take place over two days this year, as organizers have expanded the event in response to its popularity.
In addition to the usual 4th of July activities - which usually attracts more than 100,000 people -- visitors will also have a choice of enjoying an extra day of fun and entertainment on July 3 with concerts and fireworks slated for both days.
Country star Jo Dee Messina will be the headline act on Sunday, July 3. Opening for her will be Josh Turner.
On Monday, July 4, KC & the Sunshine Band will take center stage, with R&B group Midnight Star (formed in 1976 at Kentucky State University) as the opening act.
The event is slated to run from 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. both days featuring the free concerts, fireworks and children's activities throughout the Waterfront area.
