The Kentucky Chapter of the ALS Association will stage its fourth annual Louisville “Walk to DeFeat ALS” & Silent Auction on Saturday, May 10th, 2008 at Papa John’s Corporate Campus (2002 Papa John’s Blvd). Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.with the walk starting at 10 a.m. The walk and auction are open to the public with all funds raised going to the ALS Association – KY Chapter, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding the cause and cure of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a devastating and always fatal neuromuscular disease. Unless a cure is found over 30,000 Americans living today will die from ALS. The financial cost to families of persons with ALS can be up $200,000 per year, depleting entire savings of patients and relatives.

For the second year, the walk will incorporate a silent auction. The auction begins at 8:30 a.m. and will run until around noon.

Last years event drew over 500 walkers and raised over $45,000 for cutting-edge research and vital patient services. The ALS Association Kentucky Chapter is a 501 (C) (3)  not-for-profit organization. We are supported by the generosity of corporations, individual donations, memorial funds and tributes, and our own fundraising efforts. All donations made to the Chapter will go to fund patient services within the state and research at the national level.
