The Kentucky Museum of Art has teamed up with Kosair Children’s Hospital to present “Healing Creatively” from October 23 through December 3, 2010. “Healing Creatively” will showcase more than 75 artistic expressions created by children, families and staff at Kosair Children’s Hospital using a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, writing and photography. This exhibit explores how creating art helps heal children in the medical setting and is made possible by the expressive therapy program at Kosair Children’s Hospital. The opening reception will be held on Friday, October 22nd from 5:00-8:00pm, and will include a free hands-on art activity for guests.
An art therapist with the Norton Cancer Institute, Emily R. Johnson, adds, "Art making not only empowers our families to share their stories, but builds upon their strengths and improves resiliency."
This exhibition is partnership between the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Kosair Children’s Hospital, and the Norton Cancer Institute.
