Join us to celebrate the birthday of Lucy Higgs Nichols, who was born in slavery on April 10, 1838 and eventually drew a pension from the U.S. government for her service as a nurse during the Civil War. Enjoy birthday cake and the opportunity to learn a little bit about Lucy’s incredible life, in preparation for a permanent exhibit and documentary film. This event will be held in the Lower Level, concurrent with our free Family Fun Workshop.
