Hate to tell you this, Stan’s, but your excellent cod sandwich has been one-upped. The Old Louisville bistro 316 ORMSBY, which opened its doors recently in the 1920s-vintage red-brick building that previously housed the Central Park Cafe, serves a  lunchtime fried-grouper sandwich ($6) whose taste — not to mention its size — is second to none. The big, deli-cately flavored fillet (grouper is a member of the sea bass family) comes coated in a soft, slightly sweet batter made with Guinness Stout and is served on a nice marble rye, accompanied by a delicious lemon-caper aioli sauce and your choice of six side dishes, including lightly seasoned French fries, homemade new-potato salad and sauteed vegetables.

The pretty little restaurant, co-owned by former Napa River Grill chefs Tony Efstratiadis and Kevin Thompson, also offers five salad, seven appetizer and four other sandwich choices (most in the $4-$6 range) and six dinner entrees ($14-$20). Hours are Mon.-Thurs., 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fri., 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sat., 2 p.m.-10 p.m.; and Sun., noon-6 p.m. 637-9899
