Without question the men’s college basketball final four is bigger than the NBA’s, maybe it has something to do with the fact that the only guys that are millionaires in college basketball are the coaches.

There is something great about watching NBA games in which each team scores upwards of 120 points utilizing alley oops, hook shots, and dunks, especially during playoff time and after a series of highlight worthy series the final four has been set.

Out of the west is replacement team the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. the Dallas Mavericks, in a rivalry game based on the teams proximity to each other. Then out of the East is the Miami Heat and a team that’s once again found their footing the Chicago Bulls, the east final series began last Sunday while the west tips off on Tuesday for their first game of the series, all of which air nationally on TV with commentary on TNT, ABC, ESPN, and NBATV.  Both series are set to continue into this week.

But, what’s with my random allegiance towards a team that I know mostly from a comedy sports segment on a TV show featuring Norm MacDonald?  Well, of the four remaining teams three of the four have local connections, the only lone holdout is the Mavs.

The Thunder have longtime NBA player and former standout Kentucky Wildcat center Nazr Mohammed, ironically Mohammed could play against his hometown team in the finals if the Thunder and Bulls both make it through the week.

Meanwhile in the East Toronto native, Jamaal Magloire tips off as backup center for the Heat.  Kentucky fans will remember Magloire from his days as a Wildcat in the 90’s, meanwhile Washington D.C. native and fellow Kentucky star Keith Bogans currently suits up for the Bulls.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
