It seems that Louisville has finally come out of its last freeze of the year (finger’s crossed), so you know what that means: gardening time! If you’re like me, you’ve probably already started some plants from seeds indoors that are now in the ground. If you haven’t, don’t like to, or just want to supplement your already established plants, this coming weekend is a great chance - The
in neighboring Crestwood, KY are hosting a plant and garden sale market Saturday, April 26th, and Sunday, April 27th.
The Yew Dell Botanical Gardens sells plants year round, but this is a special occasion in which they feature many plants they don’t offer during other times of the year. The sale, just like the gardens themselves, are widely varied from trees to flowers to vegetables - pretty much everything you need to get the garden going this spring.
Admission to the plant sale is free with regular admission to the gardens ($7 for adults, $5 for seniors, children 12 and under free), so you might as well take some time to wander the gardens as well. There are a number of different gardens to visit - an arboretum of trees and shrubs, a quiet secret garden, amazing sunken garden in the theme of an alpine area. The grounds are quite extensive as well, and contain a number of buildings and sights.
The Yew Dell Gardens are just in Crestwood, just the other side of the Oldham County line off of US 71. See you there!
