Hetzel, announces the Southern Indiana/Louisville premiere of an
All-original adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

The show will be performed at Providence’s Robinson Theatre
located at 707 Providence Way in Clarksville, Indiana 47129 the evenings of
October 21, 23 & 28, 30 and Saturday/Sunday matinees October
23, 24 & 30, 31. Evening shows are $14, matinees $10 and

This version of Frankenstein is neither a strict adaptation of the original novel nor an update of the Universal Pictures version made famous by Boris Karloff, but does pay homage to both sources. It is a retelling of Shelley’s story that preserves many of its overlooked aspects combined with important scientific and Philosophical themes relevant in today’s world.

Set in the 1800s, it tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, scientist extraordinaire, who questions modern
Science and dares to harness the power of creation in an obsessed search to end the suffering people
experience at the loss of loved ones. Fueled by the loss of his own parents and aided by physician and
Priest Father Patrick, Victor turns away from his remaining family and friends to madly search for the
secret behind life and death. What is at first a noble cause quickly turns into a series of horrific events
leading to nightmare and madness. It is a timeless story that becomes a cautionary tale of morality and
mortality and poses questions that are as true today as they were two hundred years ago.

The script is a collaboration of many years’ work by three local writers who set out to write a version that is populated by real characters and true horror. John Hetzel, an alumnus of Providence, is the Director and
Timothy Brown is Assistant Director. Both are excited to bring this production to the region and can’t wait to bring a new alternative to those who enjoy frightening theatre. The cast and crew include many
Providence graduates and promises Thrills and Chills as well as addressing thought provoking issues.
