The 5th annual Fleur de Lis Festival will be held at the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park on along Witherspoon Street on Saturday and Sunday, May 27 and 28.
The Festival's themes of horticulture and the symbol of Metro Louisville, the fleur-de-lis, will be represented by vendors of plants, garden arts and crafts and fleur-de-lis items. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand along with live musical entertainment which creates a festive atmosphere in which to enjoy Louisville's wonderful Waterfront Park.
The fleur de lis, possibly an artistic interpretation of a yellow Iris pseudacorus, is the royal emblem of France. It was placed on the Louisville flag in honor of King Louis XVI, after whom the city is named. The fair honors Louisville's rich French heritage and was created to celebrate horticulture in our community.
The festival, is a place for people who love gardening to gather and exchange ideas and advice. It includes an outdoor market where plants, garden sculpture and furniture, garden-themed art, jewelry and collectibles are available. Music, food, and drinks are also featured. Members of local plant societies and landscaping experts are on hand to answer questions.
