Finnigan Productions presents its second annual festival of new plays by local playwrights, Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun, running April 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 & 25 at 7:30pm at The Rudyard Kipling, located at 422 W. Oak Street. Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is the second production in Finnigan’s fifth season in Louisville.
Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is a celebration of local theatre artists in the disciplines of playwriting, acting and directing, with scripts from eleven local writers, being directed by ten local directors and performed by eleven local actors.
Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun’s plays include a naughty relationship comedy: Fair Trade by Tad Chitwood, role reversals in Games People Play by Carlos Manuel, an absurdist eBay romp: Beak Wet Everybody! by Sherry Deatrick, a play about money well spent: $427.32 by Andrew Epstein, Mother Goose gets an update in A Real Mother Goose Tale by Carridder Jones, a post-modern attempt to bring someone from the future in Visit Me From the Future by Nathan Green, a lounge singer makes a deal with the devil in Patrick Amsterdam by Jeffrey Scott Holland, one man’s dream to become a super hero becomes realized in Dream Out Loud by Todd Zeigler, a grieving couple decides on funeral arrangements for their beloved pet in Fluffy by Nancy Gall-Clayton, the modern suburban American family exposed in Dream American by Christa Kreimendahl, Adam and Eve go to marriage counseling in Doug Schutte’s Love Religiously and the Festival’s Famous Fantastic Finale written by Brian Walker and using characters from all of the aforementioned pieces.
Directing credits for Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun are being shared by several local directors, including Theatre Alliance of Louisville founder Gil D. Reyes, Necessary Theatre’s artistic director Tad Chitwood, Specific Gravity Ensemble’s artistic director Rand Harmon, Louisville Repertory’s Amy Lewis, StageLab’s Kathi E. B. Ellis, Cat Claw Theatre’s artistic director Jeffrey Scott Holland, Finnigan company member Kelly Kapp, Chris Hartman, Nancy Hoover and Finnigan’s Brian Walker.
Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is being produced by Louisville native and artistic director of Finnigan Productions, Brian Walker. Walker’s previous writing credits include The Time I was Kidnapped by the Church, Smoke This Play, Great American Sex Play, my daddy’s name is Big Oil, Shot me Down & dirty sexy derby play which were all produced by Finnigan Productions at Actor’s Theatre of Louisville and The Kentucky Center for the Arts.
Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun’s cast includes Leah Roberts, Kelly Kapp, Sarah East, Delilah Smyth, Raquel Cecil, Jeremy Sapp, George Robert Bailey, Michael Roberts and Mark Fanning.
