What would it be like to live in the River City without the homes of Old Louisville, Churchill Downs or the Louisville Water Tower? Why do we value historical places and what can we learn from them? The fact is that historic buildings stand as distinct examples of human achievement and shine a light on the cultural values of the past. Join The Filson Historical Society as historians, architects, and historic preservationists explore the importance of understanding and preserving our cultural heritage through historic structures in Louisville, the Ohio Valley, and beyond. This trip includes a special look at the stone house of the Hawkes, dating back to the 1700’s. The field trip lunch will be hosted by the Jelsmas at their home, and the day will conclude with libations at the home and gardens of Ms. Fowler.
